Congratulations to Mary Bevis, Serials and Acquisitions Librarian, for winning the 2021 William A. Meehan Legacy Award, which was established in 2015 to honor a faculty member who has significantly advanced the mission of Jacksonville  State University (JSU) through an outstanding, career-long contribution in one or more of the following areas: teaching, professional effectiveness, research, or service. Mary certainly does that! Dean John-Bauer Graham presented the award to Mary. Here are a few of his words describing Mary:

"She built our/your Library's collection, but as Carlos Dominguez reminds us "to build up a library is to create life, it's never just a random collection of books." That is what libraries are and that's what librarians do. Mary Bevis is the quintessential librarian. As a mentor and friend, she has helped to create my life as a library administrator, and she has built up and lifted up all of those around her. After all, that is the essence of the mission of Jacksonville State University - we are in the life changing business. That is the essence of being an educator and the spirit of this award itself and I can think of nobody better to present it to... Ms. Bevis, Mary, my mentor, my friend and the backbone of our University Library, with my eternal thanks and gratitude please accept this award on behalf of the entire University community that you have helped to build up through these years!"

Congratulations Mary!
